Dr. Ada Ibekwe

Dr. Ada Ibekwe

Dr. Ada Ibekwe is the current Head of the Department of Nursing Science. A passionate educator and clinical expert, she has devoted her career to advancing nursing education, patient care, and community health practices.

Her leadership has strengthened the department's commitment to training competent, compassionate, and research-oriented nurses. Dr. Ibekwe continues to mentor future healthcare professionals with a focus on ethical practices and evidence-based care.

The Department of Nursing Science is one of the institution's most vital and transformative academic units. Established in September 2021, we embody the university's mission of promoting academic excellence, transformative learning, and impactful research.

We have rapidly grown in stature, becoming a beacon of innovative nursing education and research, while fostering professionalism, leadership, and community-centered healthcare.

Admission Requirements

UTME Candidates:

  • Five credit passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics (max two sittings)
  • Meet required UTME score

Direct Entry:

  • SSCE requirements plus two science subjects at GCE Advanced Level, OR
  • Registered Nurse/Midwifery Diploma, OR
  • B.Sc. in biological sciences (Second Class Upper minimum)

Transfer Students:

  • From other COOU faculties: CGPA of 4.0+ with all first-year courses passed
  • Transfers from other universities not permitted
